Silenzio Barbera d'Alba DOC
This superb wine is the typical Barbera which however undergoes a lengthy ageing in French oak casks (Allier and Vosges) and reflects the tradition of the aristocratic Piedmont wines. It is a strong, generous and full bodied wine. hints of black and red fruits, with notes of vanilla. On the palate the tannins integrate volume and softness.
Vine variety: 100% Barbera grown in town of Diano d'Alba in the province of Cuneo.
Soil: clayey and rich in iron.
Yield per hectare: 7 tons of grapes equal to 50 Hectoliters of wine.
Wine making process: alcoholic and malolactic fermentation conducted with innovative techniques and carried out at a controlled temeprature
Evolution/Ageing: 4/6 months in stainless vats; 12 months in French oak barriques, 4 months in bottle before selling
Technical features: Alcohol 14% by volume.
Tasting temperature: 18-20 degrees centigrade
Best served with: red meats, game and strong cheeses.
