Gavi di Gavi DOCG
The white wine originats from the "Cortese area", a strip of land close to the Ligurian Pennines. The vineyards are situated on steep hills sorrounding the town of Gavi, and yield a wine rich in personality with a fruity fragrance. Its scent is fruity with floral notes combined with hints of minerals and of dried fruits. The dry taste feature makes it an excellent aperitif, but it may also be served with hors d'oeuvres and fish dishes. The harvest period is normally during mid September
Vine variety: 100% Cortese di Gavi
Soil: Medium-high slope, with sandy soil rich in arenaceous marl.
Yield per hectare: 9,5 tons of grapes equal to 66 hectoliters of wine.
Winemaking process: Gentle pressing of grapes and later fermentation in absence of skin at controlled temperature
Evolution:/Ageing: 4-5 months in stainless steel vats. subsequent short period in bottle before selling
Technical features: Alcohol 12% by volume
Tasting temperature: 10 degrees centigrade
